1. Yes, James Kearney owned a John Deere Tractor for many years. Used it in planting, ploughing and tilling his cotton crop
2. Slavery is the worst thing that could have happened to any group of people. It was wrong for one group of people to force another group into slavery. I always taught my children to be proud of thier race and their heritage as African Americans, in spite of the country's history of slavery.
3. We were a very poor family. My wife and I married in 1937, the depression was coming to an end, then...but we were extremely poor. The truth is that blacks in the south continued to live much the same as they had before the depression...for most of us, it continued to be a struggle.
4. No, when the Million Man March took place, I was already 90 years old. I was very proud of the March, that so many black men were marching to make a difference for their families and the community.

My name is Abigail and I hope this question won't offend you. Did it make you depressed when your daughter and wife died? Also tell your family, "Hi" from Abigail at George Hall Elementary. Thanks for answering our class question. Do you find this valuable?

Yes, I was very sad and depressed to lose my wife of 45 years in 1982; and my daughter in 1987. These two losses were very difficult for me. Do you find this valuable?

I live in Gould, Arkansas. On the same land that I raised my family. I live alone, have three dogs and still drive and mow my own yard. I am very proud that I have lived to be 101, and I am so thankful to God for blessing me with these years I'm able to spend with my family.
